With Kansas City Chiefs mania at fever pitch leading into Super Bowl 54 this weekend, local law enforcement agencies are reminding you to cheer and celebrate safely.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is among a number of law enforcement agencies teaming up with the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to take part in the “Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk” information campaign.
As you can imagine, road safety is a key aspect of this campaign. Drivers are told not to hit the road after having anything to drink and to be sure to have a sober designated driver if they plan to have any amount of alcohol. Law enforcement is also reminding people about the dangers of drug-impaired driving, which is an increasing problem nationwide.
Another key component is the Super Bowl party you may be attending or hosting. Party organizers should have lots of snacks and non-alcoholic drinks on hand for their guests, while all revelers should pace themselves and drink lots of water.
If you see a possibly drunk or drug-impaired driver on the road in Lyon County, call the County Emergency Communications Center at 343-4200.
