Laps 4 Landon, while still a few months away, now has a date in April for the 2020 event to help spread awareness about cystic fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that attacks both the respiratory and digestive systems by producing thickened mucus, digestive fluids, and sweat that can cause complications of the lungs and gastrointestinal tract.
The namesake of the event, 13-year-old Landon Dody, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis just shortly after his birth. Laps 4 Landon has now been going strong for twelve years, raising around $100,000 in that time.
Last year Landon wrote a letter to his personal idol – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes II – inviting him to the event. This year, Landon asked his dad, Aron Dody, if they could take a different approach to invite Mahomes this year – social media. Doty made a Facebook post inviting Mahomes to this year’s Laps 4 Landon, which has received several thousands of interactions and shares.
Mahomes has been preparing for Super Bowl 54 on Sunday, so there is no word on whether he plans to attend — but if it happens, Landon Dody says he’s ready.
Laps 4 Landon will be on Apr. 14 from 6:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Emporia State University’s Welch Stadium. Click HERE to see Aron Dody’s Facebook post to Patrick Mahomes II. More information on Laps 4 Landon can be found on the event’s Facebook page.
