Two weeks after two people were found dead inside a trailer home heavily damaged by fire near Emporia, Lyon County deputies have released the names of the victims.
Deputy Jody Meyers says 67-year-old Jerry Wiley and 61-year-old Mary Ann Wiley were found inside the home at Green Acres, 1753 Road E Lot 237, as firefighters put out the first of two blazes at the home early Jan. 16. The fire rekindled later that day and again had to be extinguished.
Meyers says the cause of death is still under investigation through the Lyon County Coroner’s Office, located at Frontier Forensics in Kansas City. Firefighters have not released the cause or the origination point of the original fire. The rekindle developed in an empty space near the roof.
