It was not a good trip to Warrensburg, Missouri for the Emporia State basketball teams Wednesday.
The Emporia State women were out scored by Central Missouri 70-66. The Lady Hornets held a 14 point lead at halftime but were out scored 40-22 in the 2nd half. Coach Toby Wynn.
Tre’Zure Jobe led Emporia State in scoring with 14 points. Kali Martin and Mollie Mounsey both finished with 12 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 14-5 for the season and 7-3 in MIAA play.
The Emporia State men trailed for all but 17 seconds in a 67-49 loss at Central Missouri. The Hornets struggled offensively shooting 36 percent from the floor and made only 6 three point shots and were 7-17 from the free throw line. Coach Craig Doty said that was not the only reason they lost.
Dallas Bailey suffered a foot injury 39 seconds into the game.
Central scored 20 points off the Hornets 18 turnovers.
Keyon Thomas was the lone Hornet to score in double-figures finishing with 10 points.
The Emporia State men are now 10-9 for the season and 4-6 in the MIAA.
Both the Emporia State women and men play at Lincoln Saturday afternoon.
