Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope is pleased and grateful after AAA Kansas named his office as a Platinum Award winner this week.
Cope says the agency’s community involvement is one reason why it has been successful in improving traffic safety.
Cope also highlighted several safety programs, including Seat Belts Are For Everyone at the high school level, as well as different enforcement efforts scattered through the year.
AAA Kansas made the announcement Monday based on several rankings, including education, emergency response, enforcement and engineering. AAA has presented the awards since 2011 and this is the seventh straight year the Sheriff’s Office has received a platinum award.
