Winter weather may stay with us intermittently for several more weeks, but the National Weather Service offices in Topeka and Wichita are already looking ahead to the traditional spring severe weather season.
The Weather Service’s annual spotter training session schedules have been announced:
*Lyon County: March 23, 7-8:30 pm, Emporia State Memorial Union Webb Hall, Emporia
*Chase County: March 30, 6:30-8 pm, Fire Station Community Meeting Room, Matfield Green
*Coffey County: March 10, 7-8:30 pm, Coffey County Fairgrounds 4H Building, Burlington
*Greenwood County: March 4, 6:30-8 pm, Eureka High Auditorium, Eureka
*Morris County: Feb. 25, 7-8:30 pm, Morris County Courthouse, Council Grove
*Osage County: March 12, 7-8:30 pm, Carbondale Community Center, Carbondale
*Wabaunsee County: TBD
Training sessions will provide basic information about severe storm structure, safety, preparedness and awareness. Details about severe weather reporting guidelines will also be covered.
