The Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated recent accomplishments while charting the course for major initiatives in the year ahead during its 123rd annual meeting Friday night.
Several references were made through the night about the Ignite Emporia campaign designed to bolster local efforts in workforce development, housing development and revitalization, business retention and community development and marketing. Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says Ignite has created a “synergy and excitement” among the local business and education sectors.
New Chair of the Board Kala Maxfield says Ignite has focused the Chamber’s goals and objectives for 2020 and beyond.
Outgoing board chair Russ Bonitatibus:
The Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon longtime pharmacist and former lawmaker Don Hill. He says Emporia is in a better position now than at any point in decades.
IM Design was recognized as the Business of the Year. Business partner Shawn Honea:
Matt Johnson received the Volunteer of the Year honor. The Chamber’s Ignite Emporia Committee was honored as the Committee of the Year.
