The Chase County Sheriff’s Office is announcing the return of a longstanding scam effort.
Scammers will call to say you have won Publishers Clearing House, which offers hefty weekly payouts for life to winners. However, you have to go to Walmart and wire $750 to the caller before receiving your payout.
Publishers Clearing House practice is to send contestants online to register, with a live announcement on NBC on Feb. 28.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds you not to divulge any personal information or to wire money if you get unsolicited or suspicious calls.
