Two people were hurt when a small moving van crashed near Emporia’s eastern city limits Wednesday afternoon.
The Enterprise van crashed on East Sixth, also East US Highway 50, near Whildin Street just after 4 pm. Emporia Police Sgt DJ Dragonas says the driver was westbound as the crash developed. The driver apparently looked down at his GPS device and crossed the street just east of the Whildin Street south junction. The van then crashed through a light pole and a stop sign before re-crossing Sixth and crashing into a ditch, where it stopped.
Both people inside were taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment afterward. Names have not been released. Additional details are pending through Emporia Police.
