The Emporia Police Department is taking applications for its 2020 Public Safety Citizens Academy.
The academy consists of 12 sessions held Wednesday evenings from 5:30-9 pm. It includes presentations from Emporia Police, Emporia Fire and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. It also includes facility tours, opportunities to look inside vehicles and possibilities to use equipment like body armor and weapons under a controlled live-fire setting.
Information topics include fire behavior, crime scene investigations, searches and seizures, use of force, search and rescue and K-9 handling.
