Emporia High wrestler Xerarch Tungjaroenkel finished in first place at the Newton Tournament of Champions Saturday.
The 132 pound Freshman won his championship match by a 3-2 decision over the number 2 ranked wrestler in 5A, Cayden Hughbanks of Maize High School. Whitney Hall finished in 5th place at 220 pounds. As a team Emporia High finished in 13th place out of 32 teams at Newton.
The Emporia High girls finished in 3rd place at teh Basehor-Linwood tournament yesterday.
Annabelle Rodriguez finished in 1st place in the 143 B bracket.
Azia Obergon placed 2nd at 101 pounds. Evelin Geronimo finised in 2nd place at 109 pounds. Maddie Griffin finished in 3rd place at 130 pounds.
