Once again Emporia will be on the cutting edge of leadership development thanks to a new initiative currently in the works.
This was the main focus of Wednesday’s Talk of Emporia which featured Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jeanine McKenna and Tina Kahn of Leadership Emporia. The new initiative is known as Emporia’s Edge: The Language of Leadership.
While the name may suggest the development of a new language, Kahn and McKenna explain Emporia’s Edge is actually a collaborative form of communication meant to help the Emporia community find new approaches to “daunting challenges.
Kahn says the program creates a collective of voices which foster a foundation of leadership locally.
According to McKenna the idea for Emporia’s Edge developed last summer after the Kansas Leadership Center’s Roadshow tour stopped through Emporia. McKenna explains the common language is a new practice of “diagnosing a situation.”
Meetings for Emporia’s Edge will be held on a quarterly basis throughout the year with the next meeting scheduled for March 27 at 7:30 am with the location yet to be determined and all are welcome to attend. For more information or questions on Emporia’s Edge contact the Chamber office at 620-342-1600.
