Lyon and most surrounding counties are now in a winter storm warning for the risk of accumulating ice and sleet Friday morning.
The warning runs until noon and replaces a winter weather advisory. The lone exception, Wabaunsee County, had its winter weather advisory extended to expire at 2 pm Friday.
Model data from late Thursday evening removes most of the light snowfall in prior forecasts. Instead, up to half an inch of sleet could join with anywhere from 0.10 to 0.40 inches of ice to cause travel hazards across the area. Downed tree limbs and power outages are also possible.

The good news is the icing may not stay on the ground the full day. High temperatures will likely climb to the mid-30s, melting most of the ice that develops earlier in the day. There is a chance of a refreeze Friday night as overnight lows dip to the mid-20s.
