The Emporia High girls basketball team defeated Manhattan 44-27 Tuesday night.
The Lady Spartans used a strong defensive effort to earn the win. They out scored Manhattan 27-13 in the 2nd half. Coach Carolyn Dorsey was more than pleased to earn the win.
Rayanna Breshears led the offense with 15 points. The Lady Spartans are now 4-4 for the season and 3-2 in Centennial league play.
Manhattan won the boys game 62-55.
The Spartans played without their leading scorer Charles Snyder due to illness. Skyler Douglas led the Spartan offense, scoring a game high 21 points.
Despite the loss Coach Beau Welch was encouraged.
The Emporia High boys are now 4-4 for the season and 2-3 in Centennial League play.
The Emporia High girls and boys will host Junction City Friday night.
