The USD 252 Southern Lyon County Board of Education met a bit earlier than normal for their regular meeting Wednesday morning.
USD 252 Superintendent Mike Argabright says there was a reason for the time change.
The board also received an up-close look at recent renovations to Neosho Rapids Elementary school as a part of the district’s $14 million facility improvement bond which was approved back in 2017. The renovations at Neosho Rapids included a new multi-purpose room, storm shelter and office space.
Argabright says construction on new sidewalks and other areas is expected to begin soon.
Conversations Wednesday also centered around both the district’s crisis and strategic plans. According to Argabright, the district’s crisis plan was little changed from year’s past but is placing a larger emphasis on safety and security which Argabright says has been a major priority for the district the past 5 years.
The crisis plan was approved during the meeting. Argabright says the strategic plan will see more discussions in the coming months and will likely gain approval by some point in June as has been the case in the past.
The USD 252 Board of Education will meet again on Feb. 10 at 7 pm inside the new meeting room at Neosho Rapids.
