The development of a new electronic model of the city of Emporia’s potable water system highlighted discussions during the Emporia City Commission’s study session Wednesday morning.
According to Bruce Boettcher of BG Consultants, the model will put all of the pipes, pumps and elevated storage into a software program. Boettcher says the model will help give engineers and city staff a more thorough technical understanding of how the system works.
Additionally, Boettcher tells KVOE News the model will be a great asset for the city in prioritizing future water-related projects.
The total cost for the model project is $125,000 and the model will be owned by the city of Emporia, however, it will not be housed “in-house” due to the need for specific software and training.
Additionally, commissioners discussed the City/County joint legislative statement, which was approved during the city’s action session later in the day. Commissioners also held discussions on the city’s own legislative statement with those conversations being tabled to a later time.
The annual land bank report closed out the session. The Emporia City Commission will reconvene next Wednesday at White Auditorium.
