High winds will continue across much of the KVOE listening area through mid-afternoon.
The National Weather Service has announced a wind advisory affecting Lyon, Coffey, Osage and Wabaunsee counties until 2 pm. Wind gusts have already approached 50 mph at the Emporia Municipal Airport, and gusts up to 50 mph are still possible until conditions improve.
The Weather Service says unsecured objects could be blown around, tree limbs could be downed and several power outages may develop as a result of the gusts. Osage County has extended its burn ban which began Tuesday morning and now runs until 8 am Friday.
