Don Hill got quite the surprise on KVOE’s airwaves Wednesday.
The longtime pharmacist, one-time lawmaker and current co-host of KVOE’s On-Air Chat was honored for his local contributions with the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award during the Chat. Hill was briefly speechless when he was named.
Hill’s wife, Robbie, says her husband is driven to serve and to make life better for those around him.
Chamber President and CEO Jeanine McKenna says Hill is worthy of the honor.
Hill was the longtime owner of Emporia’s Medicine Shoppe pharmacy. He also served as the 60th District representative in the Kansas House from 2003 to 2017 before retiring from that seat. He was on the Chamber’s Board of Directors for several years and served as board chair in 1985. He is now in his third year as Emporia State University’s government relations liaison.
The Chamber is preparing for its 123rd annual meeting Jan. 24 at the Memorial Union Webb Hall. It plans to announce its volunteer of the year, committee of the year and business of the year in the next few days.
