Northern Heights swept Chase County Tuesday night on the Area Game of the Week.
The Northern Heights Lady Wildcats managed to come out on top of the Chase County Lady Bulldogs 50-47.
It was a back and forth game from the start with Northern Heights managing to establish the lead in the first quarter. The Lady Wildcats would stretch the lead to 10 early in the second before Chase County would capitalize on several turnovers to tie the game.
Northern Heights would manage to regain and hold their lead 24-22 at the half before Chase County would overtake and hold the lead at the end of the third. In the fourth, Northern Heights would outscore Chase County 16-11 to clinch their fourth win of the season.
Northern Heights was led in scoring by senior Khylee Massey with 25 points. Northern Heights Head Coach Lanny Massey says this was a big win for his team.
Chase County had three players score in double digits. Sophomore Kaylee Simpson led her team with 14 points as senior Laken Vandegrift and junior Britney Schroer both ended the night with 10.
Northern Heights now improves to 4-2 on the season as Chase County falls to 5-2.
In the boys half of the action, Northern Heights would establish an early lead and never trail en route to a 52-33 win over Chase County.
Northern Heights would hold Chase County to just two baskets in the first quarter to establish an 11-4 lead in the first and a 6-0 run to start the second would see the Wildcats establish a 28-13 lead at the half. Northern Heights would continue to stretch the lead in the third and despite being outscored by Chase County in the fourth the Wildcats clinched their sixth win of the season.
Northern Heights had three players end the night in double figures led by senior Cameron Heiman with 15 points. Senior Tee Preisner and junior Darret King both ended the night with 10.
Northern Heights head coach Jacob Lang says he got some solid minutes from his starters and his bench.
Junior Owen Eidman led Chase County with 12 points. Northern Heights now improves to 6-0 as Chase County falls to 3-4 on the season.
