The Emporia Community Foundation is helping seven non-profit organizations kick-off 2020 on the right note.
Monday, ECF announced seven organizations will be made the recipients of seven grants, totaling almost $22,000. Each agency submitted grant applications during the month of September to help fund planned activities or projects in the coming year.
ECF Executive Director Becky Nurnberg says no matter the amount every dollar helps impact these organizations in a major way.
The grant recipients and totals are as follows.
*Resource Center for Independent Living – $800.38
*Strong City Preservation Alliance, Inc. – $1,800
*Helping House of Osage County – $3,426
*Wabaunsee County Historical Society – $5,000
*Family Life Services, Inc. – $3,038
*Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland – $650
*Emporia Senior Center – $7,185
Nurnberg says the grant writing process is not an easy process for anyone and in order to help those looking to apply in years to come ECF, along with the Lyon County Extension Office, will be hosting a grant writing workshop at the Lyon County History Center on Jan. 23. The featured speaker will be K-State Research and Extension Community Vitality Specialist Nancy Daniels.
The cost to attend the workshop is $30 with registration due by Jan. 16. To register or for more information contact Lyon County Extension Agent Travis Carmichael at 620-341-3220 or Becky Nurnberg at 620-342-9304.
