Threats of several Fox Corporation channels going dark for ValuNet FIBER customers were followed by a late agreement forged by Fox and The National Cable Television Cooperative this week.
Terms are considered proprietary and are not being released, but ValuNet Residential Marketing Manager Kala Maxfield says Fox rates have climbed significantly since 2004.
The contract expired New Year’s Eve, with the new agreement being announced New Year’s Day. The Fox channels never went off the air.
Maxfield says ValuNet will not see a rate increase as a result of these negotiations. She says the NCTC works on behalf of over 900 small cable operators like ValuNet and is in constant negotiations with so-called media giants like Fox to keep customer rates as low as possible.
