Light snowfall Sunday evening may have played a role in a multi-vehicle crash in southern Chase County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says two Wichita residents and an Abilene man suffered minor injuries when their vehicles and another vehicle collided near the Kansas Turnpike’s Matfield Green service area shortly before 8:15 pm. None were hospitalized.
The Highway Patrol crash log does not mention ice as an issue, but the Turnpike Authority says there was patchy ice on the highway and KDOT crews were out treating parts of the Turnpike when the crash happened.
Also, Greenwood County reported a slideoff on Kansas Highway 99 between Hamilton and Eureka, but there were no injuries with that crash.
Much of the area, including the KVOE studios, picked up a dusting to half an inch of snow.
