Chase County Sheriff Richard Dorneker says two Cottonwood Falls residents hurt in a crash in Labette County have been transferred to different hospitals.
Dorneker says Thomas Rice and DeEllen Rice, listed by the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log as originally taken to Labette Health and Neosho County Hospital, respectively, are now at KU Med for treatment. Their daughter, Aimee Gordon, is now at Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri, after first being taken to Labette Health.
The Highway Patrol has said a Parsons woman had failed to stop at a sign, possibly because of a brake malfunction, and her SUV hit a truck driven by a Missouri man near the junction of US HIghway 400 and 26000 Road. The car with Gordon and the Rice couple inside then hit the truck.
Dorneker says Thomas Rice was driving, not Gordon as the crash log indicates.
