The local community is being asked to embrace the spirit of giving to aid a local mission that serves women in crisis in the Emporia community.
Shiloh Home of Hope is a non-denominational residential center serving local women which operates purely on private donations. This means the center does not receive or seek any government funds to assist in its day-to-day operations.
Due to this fact, Shiloh Home operators Lee and Carol Alderman — who also oversee the Emporia Rescue Mission and Abundant Harvest — say they operate the facility on a very “slim” budget with very little to no cash reserves for regular maintenance on the facility. Lee Alderman tells KVOE News at this time there is around $75,000 worth of deferred maintenance needed at Shiloh including repairs for flooring, sidewalks, windows and other potential safety hazards.
While the center does receive several charitable donations throughout the year, Alderman says they have gone the extra step and established a new account with Edward Jones Financial Advisor to allow residents an additional way to give to help support each of their local missions.
The services offered at Shiloh also include a Family Life Services Pregnancy Center which according to Carol Alderman receives around 30 visitors per week. In addition to the new account at Edward Jones, Residents may also send tax-deductible donations directly to Shiloh at PO Box 748, Emporia, KS, 66801.
