Unemployment numbers remain low, both for the KVOE listening area and the state as a whole.
Emporia’s jobless rate climbed from 2.9 percent in October to 3 percent in November. Lyon County’s rate also climbed marginally, from 2.8 percent to 2.9 percent.
Areawide, most counties ended November with jobless rates below 3 percent. Chase County has the lowest unemployment rate at 2.1 percent, joining Greenwood County (2.8 percent), Lyon County and Wabaunsee County (2.9 percent) with jobless rates below 3 percent. Morris County (3 percent) and Osage County (3.2 percent) both had jobless rates below 3.5 percent. Coffey County has the highest unemployment rate at 4.3 percent.
The state jobless rate for November was 3.1 percent, the same as October’s.
