The Hartford girls and Madison Boys each collected wins on the Area Game of the Week Thursday night.
The Lady Jaguars would limit the Madison Lady Bulldogs to just two points in the first quarter and forced over 20 turnovers as they rolled to a 57-17 victory. Hartford would outscore Madison in every quarter of play including having a 19-0 run in the first and second quarters.
Hartford had three players in double digits as junior Brooke Finnerty led all scorers with 17 points. Senior Bailey Darbyshire ended the night with 16 points while sophomore Tara Baker ended the night with 11.
Hartford head coach Ryan Thomas says he saw a lot of improvement out of his team heading into the winter break.
Madison was led in scoring by senior Lilah Serrer and freshman Yolaine Luthi with five points each. With the win, Hartford now improves to 4-1 on the season as Madison falls to 1-5.
In the boys game, Madison jumped out to an early lead and never trailed en route to a 62-23 victory over Hartford. Madison would hold Hartford leading scorer Cody Thomas to just six points on the evening and Madison junior Hunter Engle would end the night with a career-high 13 points after stepping in to fill the gap for starters Ryan Wolgram and Chase Harrison who were out of the lineup due to illness.
Madison Head Coach Brett Dannels says several of his players stepped up in a big way.
Madison was led in scoring by junior Kelton Buettner with 18 points. Junior Brome Rayburn was the third Bulldog in double digits ending the night with 10 points. Madison now improves to 6-0 on the season as Hartford falls to 2-3.
