The United Way of the Flint Hills continues its annual fundraising drive, and it got a boost this week from students in USD 252 Southern Lyon County.
Students and administrators met at KVOE to deliver over $2,300 collected recently. Superintendent Mike Argabright says students have been raising funds the last three weeks.
First-grader Athena Shepard was pivotal in lining up the pizza party at Neosho Rapids Elementary.
Staff were also incentivized to give through payroll donations with a drawing for a 42-inch TV on Thursday.
United Way Director Mickey Edwards was pleased with the donations and the underlying lesson of charitable giving.
Goal this year is $555,000 to benefit 24 community partners in eight counties. For more information about the drive, call the United Way office at 342-7564 or go online to www.unitedwayoftheflinthills.org.
