A man who pleaded to vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence last month will spend time in prison as a result.
Dalton Johnson, age 30, was sentenced to 32 months for reckless involuntary vehicular manslaughter and six months for DUI first conviction in the death of 28-year-old Trista Smith on Veterans Day 2017.
Smith’s passing came after Johnson veered off Road 180 five miles west of Emporia and hit three trees before his truck came to a stop. Court documents said Johnson’s blood alcohol content was .251, or more than three times the state’s legal limit.
