A special meeting is taking place in Emporia on Wednesday about the re-launch of a statewide program.
A roundtable discussion is set from 10 am to 2 pm about Kansas Main Street, which was shut down in 2012 as part of a state push to combine trade, business and community development programs. Emporia Main Street was a separate entity, so it received no direct funding from Kansas Main Street although it took advantage of different networking opportunities that disappeared with the shutdown.
Discussion points will include the direction of the state program and what will constitute success for Kansas Main Street over the next five to 10 years. The Kansas Department of Commerce will have several agencies represented and the Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism will also be on hand.
The meeting is at the Granada Theatre. For more information about Kansas Main Street, call 785-296-7288 or go online to www.kansascommerce.gov/mainstreet.
