The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Emporia Police Department have released the final stats for their Thanksgiving enforcement effort.
The Sheriff’s Office reports 24 traffic enforcement stops between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1. There were nine speeding citations, one safety belt citation and 13 other citations and arrests. Deputies report one DUI arrest.
Emporia Police had 18 citations issued Nov. 25 and Nov. 27. There were 16 seat belt violations, one for speeding and one listed as “other.
Deputies will take part in the nationwide “Drive Merry, Bright and Sober” traffic enforcement effort, focusing mainly on drunk driving, from Dec. 26-Jan. 1. Emporia Police are not planning any special holiday traffic enforcement efforts.
