One woman suffered minor injuries but was still taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment after a crash in far north Lyon County on Saturday night.
First responders from Emporia, Miller and Reading joined Lyon County deputies in the 3700 block of Kansas Highway 99, about three miles north of Allen, after the crash was reported around 7:30 pm. Deputies say a southbound SUV did not negotiate a turn. It then went off the highway into a ditch.
Cynthia Eichinger, 42, of Mayetta, was taken by ambulance to Emporia for treatment. The driver, 60-year-old Billy Eichinger, Jr., also of Mayetta, and a second passenger, 28-year-old Arturo Garcia-Silva of Kansas CIty, declined treatment at the scene.
All inside the SUV were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
9:45 pm Saturday: One to Newman following injury accident north of Emporia Saturday
One person was transported to Newman Regional Health following a reported injury accident north of Emporia Saturday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the 3700 block of North Kansas Highway 99, 22 miles north of Emporia, shortly before 8 pm. According to the Emporia Fire Department, one vehicle was traveling southbound when for currently unknown reasons it left the roadway and entered the east ditch.
The vehicle had three passengers inside and one was taken to Newman Regional Health with what are being called “minor injuries.” Further details are currently pending.
