Travel issues are possible across the KVOE listening area for Thanksgiving, but we’re not expecting a lot of snow or ice with an incoming winter storm.
TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says we could get light snow and a thin glaze of ice, thanks to a wintry mix of precipitation for the morning and early afternoon hours. Current indications have up to an inch of snow and a tenth of an inch of ice for parts of the area through noon. The mix will change to rain as temperatures climb to the mid-30s, and any freezing or frozen precipitation should be melted by the end of the day.
Further north and west, like western Kansas, much of Colorado and Nebraska, areas hard-hit by heavy snowfall Tuesday could have a round of light snowfall as well. Highways are partly to completely covered in north-central, northwest and western Kansas on Wednesday.
