Keyon Thomas and Jumah’Ri Turner both scored 22 points to lead the Emporia State men to a 75-67 win over William Jewell Tuesday night in the MIAA Thanksgiving Challenge.
William Jewell jumped out to a 10-5 lead. Emporia State went on a 16-3 run to take an 21-13 lead and held the lead for most of the game.
The Hornets led 42-36 at halftime. They would make 6 of 6 freethrows in the final 23 seconds to seal the win.
Coach Craig Doty said they did what they needed to win the game.
Keyon Thomas said they played with a chip on their shoulder.
With the win the Hornets improve to 4-3 for the season. They will host St. Marys Friday night.
