The Save the V drive benefiting the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980 took on a few different forms Saturday.
Fundraising was generated by a disc golf tournament, game event and concert. Totals are pending, but Post Commander Michael White says community support has helped — both with the bottom line and the atmosphere surrounding the post.
The VFW post has been digging out of a financial hole for most of the year after different employee tax documents were apparently — and inadvertently — not filed with the Internal Revenue Service as needed between 2014 and 2018. The post officially owed around $20,000 when the situation was announced a month ago, and White says over $9,000 has been raised over the past month.
Additional fundraisers are developing through January. For more information about the Save the V drive, call White at 785-430-8095 or the post at 342-9864.
