A 46-6 loss to Canton Galva brought the Madison Bulldogs’ season to an end in substate Friday night.
Canton Galva would strike first in the game with a 64-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Landon Everett to sophomore Tyson Struber. Everett would find the endzone two more times in the first half from one-yard out and 33-yards out to give Canton Galva an 18-point lead going into the half.
Madison’s lone score would come in the first quarter off a 70-yard kickoff return by senior Nasun Wasson. In the second half, the Eagles would hold Madison scoreless and add three touchdowns from freshman Garret Maltbie and junior Brandon Huff to seal the win and claim the sub-state championship.
Despite the loss, Madison Head Coach Alex McMillian says this has been a milestone season for his team.
Madison finishes the season with a record of 11-1. Canton Galva now advances to the 8-man division I state championship to be played next Saturday in Newton.
