Saturday is a big day for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1980 as the Save the V fundraising drive continues.
The Veterans for Vets disc golf tournament will take place at Peter Pan Park. Check-in will be at 9 am, with the players meeting at 9:30 am and tee time at 10 am. Registration is $25 per player through www.discgolfscene.com.
A barbecue cookout will take place at the post by 1 pm, followed by a family-friendly event with games, prizes and raffles starting around 2 pm. The meal will be free, but freewill donations will be encouraged.
The band Range Fire performs at the post at 7 pm. There will be a $5 cover charge.
The Save the V drive developed after different employee tax documents were apparently — and inadvertently — not filed with the Internal Revenue Service as needed between 2014 and 2018. The post has been working to resolve the $20,000 debt that resulted, and Post Commander Michael White says over $9,000 has been raised over the past month.
