Positive trends across the board were reported during the Flint Hills Community Health Center Board of Directors meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The monthly clinical reports each indicated rising numbers of visitations including 495 total patients for the psychiatry clinic. The medical clinic had a total of 927 patient visits, slightly down from last year’s October total of 986.
Medical clinic Director Dr. James Fast says despite the decrease, this is still a positive number, considering the clinic has one less provider from 2018. The clinical numbers translated well into the October financial report as the health center saw a net gain of $232,000 for the month. Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold says this is a great sign the health center’s turnaround plan is working.
Days cash on hand also increased to 67.21 days while revenues were 13 percent above budget and expenses came in at 15 percent below.
In other business FHCHC CEO Renee Hively introduced two new providers for the health center including nurse practitioner Samantha Zimmerman and Dr. Melanie Byram. Byram will be taking over as interim Medical Clinic Director following the retirement of Dr. Fast come December.
Hively says Fast came to the health center during a critical time of need.
Three executive sessions also took place. The FHCHC Board of Directors will hold its next meeting at noon on Dec. 16 inside the health center’s Havenhill Conference room.
