Keyon Thomas scored a game high 30 points to lead the Emporia State mens basketball team to a 94-82 win over Sterling Monday night.
Sterling controlled the tempo for most of the first half. Twice they held 6 point leads. Emporia State would go on a 15-6 run to close out the first half to take a 42-39 lead at halftime.
The two teams traded leads for the first 7 minutes of the 2nd half. Emporia State would go on a 21-7 run to take a lead they would not give up.
Coach Craig Doty was not pleased with the start of the game.
Keyon Thomas hit 5 three point baskets while scoring 30 points.
Justin Williams added 18 points, making 4 three point baskets. Devon Rottweiler finished with 15 points. Zac Owens scored 12 points.
The Hornets improve to 3-2 for the season. They will host Rockhust Friday night.
