Thanksgiving, or rather Thanksgiving dinner, came to Emporia a bit early thanks to the hardworking folks of the American Legion Saturday.
The Legion and the American Legion Auxillary held their annual Thanksgiving dinner fundraiser which financially supports both the American Legion and Auxillary as well as all of their activities within the local community. The event was wildly popular as was evident by the nearly 100 residents who attended.
Organizer Ron Whitney says the Legion was hopping from the minute the doors opened.
Saturday’s menu included all of the traditional Thanksgiving favorites including turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing and more. Totals from the event will be announced at a later time.
Next up on the American Legion’s calendar will be the Auxillary’s annual Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 7th at post 5.
