The Emporia Public Library’s 150th-anniversary speaker series ended with Deborah Divine’s presentation on the history and art of quilting on Saturday.
Deborah Divine is the President of the Quilters Hall of Fame in Marion, Indiana, an avid quilt maker and collector, as well as a quilting historian.
Divine’s presentation focused on the history of quilting and quilters, specifically from Kansas. She went on to say that quilting’s historical significance comes from the fact that it was an art form made by women.
The 150th anniversary is coming to an end with the library’s 150th birthday party on Dec. 14. For more information on the Emporia Public Library and its upcoming birthday visit www.emporialibrary.org or the Emporia Public Library’s Facebook page.
