The Madison Bulldogs advanced to sub-state with a 60-14 win over the Caldwell Blue Jays in Caldwell Friday night.
Madison would score on all of their drives in the first half including three scores by Junior Brome Rayburn and senior Nason Wasson to give the Bulldogs a 16-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Caldwell would answer back in the second quarter as senior quarterback Calen Noyes would connect with freshman Keiondre Smith for both a 32 and 43-yard passing touchdown.
The Bulldogs wouldn’t let up as they would score four times in the second including a 36-yard pass from junior quarterback Ryan Wolgram to sophomore Drew Stutseman seven seconds into the Bulldogs third drive of the quarter to give Madison a 46-14 lead at the half.
The Bulldogs would seal the win in the third quarter thanks to a two-yard touchdown run from Rayburn and a 52 yard run by Wolgram.
The Madison defense held Caldwell to just 132 total offensive yards. Junior Hunter Engle applauded the defensive effort.
Madison Head Coach Alex McMillian says he would have liked a better start, but he was proud of the end result.
Madison will now host Canton Galva next Friday for a trip to the state championship.
The Season came to an end for the Olpe Eagles they were out scored by Centralia 22-20 in a 1A Sectional game.
The difference was a late 2 point conversion the was stopped by Centralia.
Olpe finishes their season with a 10-1 record.
