Area residents were told to “swing on by” the Emporia State Department of Music’s second fundraising concert for the United Way of the Flint Hills on Thursday night.
About 200 residents did — and they were treated to swing, Latin, fusion and other forms of jazz during the show.
The ESU Jazz Ensembles 1 and 2 were the featured performers as the Department of Music contributed all concert proceeds to the United Way, which is in the middle of its annual fundraising campaign.
About $500 was raised Thursday. The prior concert in late September generated over $1,000 for the United Way.
