It was a good night at White Auditorium Thursday night as both the Emporia State women and men picked up wins.
The Emporia State womens basketball team found their shooting stroke in a 83-44 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State.
The Lady Hornets made 13 three point baskets and shot 43 percent from the field. Just what Coach Toby Wynn was hoping to see.
Senior Mollie Mounsey led the way making 6 three point baskets and finishing with 18 points.
Mounsey was 1 of 5 players to score in doublefigures. Tre’Zure Jobe finished with 16 points, Fredricka Sheats added 13 points, Jessica Wayne and Kali Martin both scored 11 points. The Lady Hornets forced 33 turnovers and scored 40 points off the turnovers. With the win the Emporia State women improve to 2-1. They play at Northern State Sunday afternoon.
After a slow start the Emporia State men used a 10-0 run in the first half to take a 8 point lead and never trailed the rest of night on the way to a 82-51 win over Tabor.
Coach Craig Doty called it another good team win.
Brenden Van Dyke led the offense with 14 points.
Jumah’Ri Turner added 12 points and Devin Rottweiler finished with 10 points. The Hornets improve to 2-2 for the season. They will host Sterling Monday night.
