People attending the Governor’s Water Conference last week are processing the updates provided and the lessons learned during the two-day conference in Wichita.
60th District Representative Mark Schreiber was struck by how technology is helping research and development of best practices.
Angela Anderson, the chair of the Neosho River’s Regional Advisory Committee, has been working on several projects, including a possible water technology farm — which would demonstrate irrigation technology and could lead to new management techniques and cropping patterns if the Regional Advisory Committee can obtain funding. She says a data-driven approach to water matters can yield profitable results for ag producers while generating a sustainable water supply.
The conference featured information on extreme event assessment and planning, reuse of public water supplies, flood control operations in different river basins, groundwater quality and invasive species.
