Icy conditions near Gridley led to a wreck that sent two Coffey County residents to a hospital for treatment.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 38-year-old Lee Roy Maier Jr was southbound on Emma Road when his pickup slid on ice in the 500 block, or just north of Gridley. The truck went into a ditch and hit a tree shortly before noon.
Both Maier and the only passenger in the truck, 34-year-old Veronica Foley of Burlington, were taken to Coffey County Hospital in Burlington for suspected serious injuries. Neither were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
