The Emporia State soccer team needed overtime to defeat Northwest Missouri State 3-2 Friday afternoon in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament.
Northwest scored 2 first half goals to lead at halftime 2-0.
Emporia State would score in the 48th minute of play on a goal by Kennedy Hoffman. The Lady Hornets tied the match in the 58th minute of play on a goal by Hannah Woolery.
Then 33 seconds into the 2nd overtime Hannah Woolery scored the match winner.
Emporia State Coach Bryan Sailer said they turned up the pressure in the 2nd half.
The Lady Hornets advance to the semi-finals of the MIAA tournament.
They will play Northeastern State next Friday in the semi-final
