A second defendant in a set of local business burglaries from earlier this year will spend time in prison as a result.
Lesli Fontenot received 14 months overall after two incidents in May. Judge Jeff Larson sentenced Fontenot to seven months for conspiracy to commit burglary after a break-in at Kari’s Diamonds and Bridal on May 16. Larson also sentenced Fontenot to another seven months for conspiracy to commit theft after TP Jewelry and Pawn was burglarized May 9.
Fontenot reached a plea agreement in September after she was originally charged with a longer list of crimes in the Kari’s Diamonds and TP Jewelry incidents as well as alleged involvement in an attempted robbery at Giefer’s Car Wash in mid-May. The other charges were dropped.
Co-defendant Nicholas Hall was sentenced last week to 31 months in prison after pleading to burglary at Kari’s Diamonds, theft at TP Jewelry and Pawn and criminal damage at Mr. G’s Car Wash, 716 East 12th.
