Potential approval for new rate increases will highlight the Emporia City Commission’s action session Wednesday afternoon.
Commissioners settled on increases of 10 percent for sewage, five percent for water and no increase to solid waste fees during their study session two weeks ago. Aside from the sewage increase, this is a significant change from the originally proposed increases of eight percent for water and three percent for solid waste.
Additionally, commissioners will discuss, and possibly approve, the construction of the new Kookaburra exhibit at the David Traylor Zoo. The commission will also review and consider approving a resolution for the city’s solid waste management plan, consider bids for new pickups and award a bid for audit services.
The commission will meet at 1:30 pm inside the municipal courtroom at White Auditorium.
