Emporia Public Works will fix a leaky water main on West 12th this week.
Director Dean Grant says crews will do the work Wednesday between Grand and Garfield. Grant says an old pipe has developed issues for undetermined reasons, bringing water to the surface since Thursday.
This not the water main installed last year as part of a major scheduled project, but it is in the same area where the city repaved 12th between Grand and Prairie after last year’s planned work and a series of unplanned water main breaks — so crews will have to remove some of the new pavement and then patch the hole once they are done. Grant expects the work will be done Wednesday, barring weather issues or unforeseen problems elsewhere in town.
