With Veteran’s Day just around the corner, a slew of events will be kicking off All Veteran’s Tribute activities this weekend.
The first event on the schedule will be the annual veteran’s artist exhibit and reception — running in conjunction with the November First Friday art walk — at the Emporia Arts Center from 4-6 pm Friday evening. This year’s exhibit also has a new component as it is working in cooperation with the Experiencing Veterans and Artists Collaboration (EVAC) project.
Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Susan Rathke says the EVAC project is an example of how the CVB and Emporia are constantly working to evolve the annual offering of Veteran’s Tribute events. She says constant communication between the CVB and local community is a major factor in accomplishing this goal.
Other notable events taking place this weekend include:
*The Emporia State University Flag Celebration: 10:30 am Saturday at Plumb Hall.
*All Veteran’s Luncheon: 11:30 am Saturday at the Sauder Alumni Center.
*ESU Football vs Washburn: 2 pm Saturday at Welch Stadium. A veteran recognition ceremony will take place during the game.
The veteran artist exhibit will be up for viewing from now until Nov. 23. For a full list of upcoming activities click here.
